Duke of Edinburgh's Award

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award @ Holmfirth Open Award Centre, The Phoenix Centre, Dunford Road, Holmfirth HD9 2DR is a really popular centre which runs the DofE Award programme on a Monday evening 7.00pm- 9.00pm in term time.

There you can get involved in a range of activities including archery, skateboarding, team building expedition training, drama and movement, crafts for Christmas, exercise to music, woodwork and cooking.

The staff and volunteer leaders are eager to share their experience and enthusiasm with young people to allow them to have fun and complete the Duke of Edinburgh's Award. So why not start something new in 2016 that could benefit you for the rest of your life!

Their aim is to help our community prosper by bringing together local business and talented students through an apprentice scheme that really work.  
There are currently 33 apprenticeship jobs with 5 miles of our school!

The League of Young Voters UK was formed in 2014 to address the challenge that not enough young people are registering and voting in the UK.

Young people in the UK are simply not engaging in democracy at the same levels as their older counterparts - which is making those in power less likely to engage with them.

In the last general election, for example, only 44% of 18-24 year olds voted in comparison to 76% of 65+ year olds, and current voter registration rates suggest that this trend is set to continue.

We want to change that.
