OFSTED REPORT

Honley High School was inspected by Ofsted in December 2023. This was an ungraded inspection (section 8 of the Education Act 2005) to confirm that the school has remained Good since our last inspection in 2015, and I am proud to tell you that Ofsted agrees that our school is indeed a “Good” school.

We believe this is a well-rounded report highlighting how brilliantly everyone works together to enable our students to thrive.  I would encourage you to make a cuppa and read the full report (below) so that you can see for yourself how fantastic our students and staff are.

Ofsted recognised that we have high expectations of our students, and through our ambitious curriculum, they are provided with a high-quality education so they not only flourish but also achieve well.

One of our new initiatives, our comprehensive personal development programme “iGEN”, introduced in collaboration with the Together Learning Trust, has been applauded by our younger students.

As parents, I’m sure you will be pleased that to hear that Ofsted acknowledged that our students are safe and feel safe in school. Also, that our students benefit from a wide range of enrichment experiences, trips and opportunities to develop their leadership skills.

I’m so proud that the report celebrates that we have built a culture where our students demonstrate a positive attitude to school and behave extremely well. This is at the heart of everything we do at Honley High School.

Ofsted also commended our work with SEND students in main school and in our additionally resourced provision and that all our students are prepared well for the next stage of their education.

We know our school is excellent, and we are incredibly appreciative of our students, parents, carers, Governing Body and trustees, the Together Learning Trust and the dedication and expertise of our staff.

As we move forward, we continue to be passionate about striving for the highest for all our students, to provide them with amazing learning experiences and fantastic opportunities to support them to achieve academically and develop into happy, confident, successful individuals who will contribute positively to the world around them and reap the rewards throughout the rest of their lives.

I am immensely proud of the outcome of this inspection and excited about the future.
