SCHOOL MEALS

All year groups share the same lunch break from 12.20pm to 1.05pm and are encouraged to participate in lunchtime extra-curricular clubs. Support sessions and interventions also take place during the lunch break.

In addition to our dining hall, we also have an outdoor dining area, the ‘Pod’ and an additional indoor refreshment area, the ‘Honley Café’.

Refreshments are available at break time in the Dining Hall and Pod (Years 7 to 9) and in the Honley Café (Years 10 and 11). At lunchtime, refreshments and meals are available in the Dining Hall, Pod and the Honley Café, with priority access given by Year Group. Students may also eat their packed lunch in these areas or on the benches in the quad.

There are a wide variety of hot and cold options for students to purchase. A standard ‘meal deal’ costs £2.70 for a sandwich/meal, fruit/biscuit and a bottle of water. Please click on the links below to view the meal prices, options and menus.

Students with specific dietary requirements initially need to bring a packed lunch so that the catering team can arrange an appropriate meal plan. If your child has any dietary requirements, please don't hesitate to get in touch with Mrs Webster (a.webster@honley.tlt.school) and she will liaise with the catering team on your behalf.

CASHLESS DINING

Payments to school are through our online system ParentPay. Here you can add lunch funds, pay for school trips and buy items such as calculators and revision guides.

No more hunting around for loose change in the morning or spending dinner money on the way to school. We run a cashless system, where funds are added in advance online by a parent/carer (or automatically in the case of free school meals). Students then 'pay' using a *finger biometric recognition system. It is not possible to pay with cash in the canteen.

Parents can log onto ParentPay and see what their child has purchased and can set a daily spending limit. If your child is in receipt of free school meals, you can still access ParentPay to see their food choices and to top up their account if needed (allocated £2.70 per day from September 2023).

Alternatively, payment may be made by PayPoint.

CONTACTING OUR FINANCE TEAM

If you have any questions about financial matters, including using ParentPay, Free School Meals or making payments to school by PayPoint, please get in touch with our Finance Team by emailing finance@honley.tlt.school or phoning 01484 506484.

FREE SCHOOL MEALS

Parents/carers in receipt of certain benefits may be entitled to free school meals for their children. Students who are eligible receive a daily allowance to cover the cost of a lunch meal (£2.70 from September 2023) and breakfast before 8.35am (85p from September 2023) in school. These allowances are automatically added to their ParentPay account, and the child will ‘pay’ for their meals in the same way as other students. Please note if not used, the allowance does not accumulate.

Even if your child doesn’t want school meals, if your child is eligible, it is really important to register for them. Our school can receive significant extra Pupil Premium funding for each registered student.

This extra funding can support your child's learning in many ways, such as contributing towards school trips, revision guides, and extra provisions to raise attainment.

Your application is anonymous; no one will know you have applied, and it will not affect any other benefits you claim.

To find out if you are eligible for free school meals, please visit the Kirklees website and complete their online application form by clicking on the link below.
