School Trips
Learning is about more than just what happens in the classroom! At Honley, we offer a very wide range of extra-curricular activities, including residential trips.
To cement the team building work we do during transition, all Year 7 students are invited to take part in a residential visit. During this trip, they experience a range of fun and challenging activities. They learn to respect each other’s points of view and develop their interpersonal skills.
There are plenty of different opportunities for adventure across all of our subjects. Residential trips may include a Language trip to Cantabria, skiing in France or Italy, a Performing Arts trip to London, a Science trip to London, and Humanities trips to Belgium and Poland.
This page provides an overview of the residential trips for 2025–2026. In addition, we offer numerous day trips, from the Classics Society visiting the Royal Armouries in Leeds to a Science Trip to Huddersfield University.
We always communicate directly with parents by email about upcoming opportunities for your child, and some financial support may be available for eligible students.

The aim of the week is for students to experience a range of challenging but safe situations and participate in various adventurous activities. These are a few of the thrilling activities they may experience: climbing, assault course, caving, surfing, kayaking, abseiling, mountain biking, canoeing, high ropes, mountain boarding, team trail, and body boarding. There will also be a range of fun evening activities!
Year 10 Spanish Exchange Programme to Granada, October 2025
This exciting programme gives Year 10 students the chance to experience life in Granada through our partnership with a Spanish school, just minutes from the city centre and within walking distance of the breathtaking Alhambra — often called the eighth wonder of the world! Staying with their exchange partners’ families, students will enjoy a true immersion in Spanish culture and daily life.
Throughout the visit, students will join a programme of group activities and excursions, supported by teachers from both schools. Living and interacting daily with Spanish peers and their families will help students develop confidence and fluency in their spoken Spanish, while also deepening their understanding of the country’s traditions and way of life. This exchange offers a rewarding experience, combining language growth with cultural enrichment and personal connections that extend beyond the classroom.
Student Ambassador Leadership Residential, November 2025

This exciting event is designed to develop leadership, character, resilience, and teamwork through a variety of fun, hands-on activities led by staff from across the Together Learning Trust.
Attending the Leadership Training Residential is a fantastic opportunity for our Student Ambassadors to grow as leaders and connect with students across the Trust. The residential combines learning, personal growth, and fun in a dynamic, supportive environment, helping students challenge themselves, build skills and confidence, form last friendships and enjoy unforgettable experiences with peers from other schools.

Highlights of the trip will include visits to Hill 60 and Caterpillar Crater, the In Flanders Fields Museum, Langemark Cemetery, the Tyne Cot British Cemetery, and the Thiepval Memorial & Visitor Centre. Students will also attend the poignant Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate, where our Cadets will lay a wreath on behalf of Honley High School.
