Do you have what it takes to represent, lead and inspire our school?

Head Students are the pinnacle of leadership, character and community. We make sure to select students who will encourage others to thrive and who will be positive role models to their peers. As Head Student, you will have a seat at the table, acting as the representative of the student experience here at Honley. You do not need to have been an Ambassador to apply, but you will be asked for examples of how you have contributed positively to the school community, whether that’s in extra-curricular clubs or Student Council. You may be a part of groups after school where you have learned leadership or team building skills, like Scouts or in Sports teams. We want to hear from you!

Job Description -  Head Student

Head Students are our shining examples of everything a leader should be. You will be positive role models to all members of the school and community, building a team spirit and encouraging other students to get involved in school life. You also represent the voice of the students at a high level and can make a real difference.

You and the other Head Student team will be integral in supporting and encouraging each other to develop your strengths. If there are some areas where you feel less comfortable, please do not be put off applying.

HEAD STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO:

  • Consistently act as an enthusiastic and positive role model

  • Be a good listener, taking time to understand students’ ideas and concerns in person and via the Voicebox so you can raise issues with decision-makers on their behalf

  • Be a proactive and effective communicator

  • Work as a team with the other Ambassadors

  • Actively lead student leadership groups such as the School Council or the Eco Group

  • Work closely with teachers on areas such as developing student leadership or planning events or assemblies

  • Represent the school at important events throughout the year; e.g. Open Evening, Progress Evenings, Graduation Evening, Honley Awards etc. This could include speaking, welcoming guests, supporting other activities, etc

  • Meet high standards of politeness, courtesy, dress, attendance and punctuality

  • Display high levels of organisation and commitment

  • Be proud of Honley and want to contribute to making it the best school it can be

How will students be selected?

For all roles, students are invited to apply via the form above. Applications received after the deadline cannot be accepted. Shortlisted students will be invited to an interview. Students will be chosen based on their interview and feedback from their teachers and Head of Year.
